BOROUGH ADD FIRST VFLW RECRUIT

The club is excited to announce the first VFLW recruit for the 2024 offseason, Belinda Woolcock.

Bel is a 169cm versatile defender coming cross from Casey Demons (27 VFLW matches across 2022-23), the former professional tennis player is “Ready to tackle any challenge that comes my way. Super excited to represent Port Melbourne FC and start this new chapter!”

 

Some strengths & attributes she will bring to the VFLW program is professionalism & accountability. Bel is one to lead by example & the 28 year old will add a level head to any situation on or off the field. Key as the team looks at continuing on from the success of it’s maiden Premiership in 2023.

Averaging 15 disposals from 11 matches in 2023, Port Melbourne VFLW Head of List Management & Recruiting John Bonanno said “you’ll quickly see Bel is a gem of a person, and can play as well”

As women’s football continues to grow, coming from the professional tennis environment. Woolcock has experience playing in front of a big audience with high stakes. This has taught composure, resilience and mental toughness.

She said she is expecting an exciting and welcoming environment, that will be a breathe of fresh air. High standards with a balance of fun and new opportunities for growth.
