The 2018 playing list that will be aiming to defend the Premiership for Port Melbourne has neared completion with the latest signing of youngster Wade Donnan.
Donnan joins the Borough from the Bendigo Pioneers in the TAC Cup, where he played 17 games across the past two seasons.
Donnan is a contested ball specialist who has not missed a pre-season training session since commencement in November.
Donnan’s hard-nosed qualities saw him average 14 touches & 8 tackles in eight TAC Cup appearances last year, which included four occasions where he had 10 or more tackles.
Donnan, 183cm/87kg, earnt praise among some reputable onlookers with a “breakout performance” against Dandenong Stingrays for the Pioneers last year, named as Bendigo’s best player with 16 disposals, seven contested possessions, five marks, 11 tackles, three goals and one score assist.
Donnan then went on to complete the season with Strathfieldsaye and subsequently took home an Under 18’s Premiership and the ‘Rod Ashman Medal’ as Best on Ground in the winning Grand Final.
Wade can be expected to provide much-needed midfield depth for the Borough for many years to come. We’re delighted to have him on board and wish him all the best!
