REPORT: Borough Women Gallant in Defeat against Seaford

Our Borough women took it up to the top placed Seaford all match.

It was a promising result for our women who only loss by 46 points at the North Port Oval on Saturday.

The first term was a frenetic pressured opening term from both sides.

For the first half of the quarter our women were the better team and Seaford could not get the football pass the middle and score.

Isabella Stutt was our first goal scorer in a tight quarter that saw Seaford score three late goals. At quarter time our women were down by 14 points.

In the second quarter our women continued to play tough and relentless football over Seaford with amazing pressure.

The Seaford players were second-guessing themselves each time they had the disposal of the football.

It was a great first half by our women who took it right up to the topside.

Bronte James played a superb first half and Kayla Slattery made her presence up forward strongly felt.

Slattery booted through our second goal of the match in the second after a solid mark in the forward line. At the main break Seaford were up by 14 points over our women.

Our women continued to fight it out in the third stanza.

Seaford capitalized on their limited scoring opportunities in front of goal, as they slotted through four goals and kept our women scoreless.

At three quarter time our women were down by 39 points.

The final quarter was an incredible term for our women who came out all guns blazing with their intent and immense pressure.

Our women tackled strongly and placed great on and off the ball pressure on Seaford.

Belinda Ousley played a remarkable match down back and through the middle her hard tackling and long kicks. Ousley was a stalwart in defense and through the middle.

Skipper Paige Holt played an exceptional captains game as well.

This final stanza was our women’s best fourth quarter of the year when it came to pressure unfortunately they could not trouble the scorers to top the quarter off.

There were plenty of great promising signs from our women all match and they have shown that they are well and truly capable to match it with the leagues best teams.

Seaford ended up notching up the win by 46 points.

Our women will be back in action Round 14 at Mornington on Sunday 12th of August.
