Port Phillip Council announce plans for Australia Post site
The City of Port Phillip Council has announced that the Australian Post site located at 509 Williamstown Road (adjacent to ETU Stadium) will be transformed into a modern sport and broader recreational facility.
Port Melbourne Football Club (PMFC) is excited by this announcement and the opportunity it presents for the club, the oval and the Sandridge Events Centre.
“It is a great outcome for PMFC and the Board and I would like to thank Paul Malcolm for his efforts over the last four years working on this project” said PMFC President Michael Shulman.
“We would also like to thank the local community, sporting clubs and the City of Port Phillip Council who all worked together to help strive for and achieve this fantastic outcome for our community”.
PMFC General Manager Sophie Williams said, “the Club will continue to work with the various community partners, sporting groups and other interested parties to assist with developing a sound and commercial submission to be part of the masterplan for this much needed sporting & recreational space alongside ETU Stadium”.
“We look forward to the future of the site and delivery of this important initiative for the benefit of all sporting clubs in the municipality” added Williams.
A preliminary submission was endorsed at the 6 December Port Phillip Council Meeting and Cr Cunsolo is encouraging residents to participate by making their own submissions. An independent committee will consider submissions on the DCP when the Government’s consultation ends in February.
The Australia Post Port Melbourne Business Centre will maintain operations for its customers while arrangements are made over the next one to two years to transition the facility to a new location.
