Sean Buncle announces he will not coach VFLW in 2025

Port Melbourne VFLW Head Coach has advised the Board of the Port Melbourne Football Club (PMFC) that he will not be putting his hand up for the head coach role for the 2025 season.

Sean joined the club in 2022 and his contract ran through to the end of the 2024 season.  The highlight of this time being the 2023 season which saw the Borough win it’s first VFLW premiership in only it’s third year in the competition. 

“I have loved my time at the Borough and have had the privilege of bringing home the club’s first VFLW premiership with a fantastic group of girls” commented Buncle.

“The time is now right however for me to focus on family and other things and I wish the team and the club every success moving forward” Buncle added.

PMFC General Manager Sophie Williams expressed the club’s appreciation for what Sean has given to the club.

“Sean has been a true asset to the football club.  He has taken our VFLW to a premiership in just their third year in the competition and again this year making finals.  We thank Sean for his hard work and dedication and wish he and his young family all the best.  He will always be part of the Borough family” Williams commented.

The recruitment process will now commence for Sean’s replacement and an announcement will be made in due course.
