The Board of the Port Melbourne Football Club (PMFC) today announced that Brendan McCartney has accepted the PMFC VFL Head Coach position in 2025 and beyond.
The appointment is a coup for the club and comes as the 2024 season comes to a close.
“We are thrilled that Brendan will be joining the Borough family, his experience and professionalism will be a huge asset as we look to the future” commented PMFC Board Member and Football Director Toby Pinwill.
McCartney’s has an impressive coaching resume & extensive experience in both the AFL and VFL over the past 25 years. He has been involved at the AFL level with several clubs including the Western Bulldogs, Melbourne, Essendon and most recently Collingwood.
“When the opportunity came to be head coach at Port Melbourne I jumped at the chance. This is a club with a rich and proud history, and I want to be part of the story” commented McCartney
“Brendan’s appointment is exciting for our players and is also equally exciting for our Borough faithful – the future is in good hands” added PMFC General Manager Sophie Williams.
Brendan will officially commence his role in the pre-season as part of a three-year deal.
