Featuring Sam Lane, Award winning journalist specialising in AFL, Olympics and cycling – Samantha Lane is also a member of Seven’s AFL broadcast team and the popular Saturday night pre-match show “The Kick”. With the launch of AFL Women’s this year, Sam has added boundary riding and radio host to her media roles and after 12 years as a journalist for Fairfax Media she has stepped away from newspapers to pen her first book due for release in the New Year.
Sam will be our MC for the evening and will be interviewing an all-female football panel.
Kerry Ashbrook is a Director at Port Melbourne Football Club and the driver of Women’s Football. Kerry successfully introduced Girls Football at Port Melbourne Colts Juniors, which is now the fastest growing Junior Girls in the Southern Metro Junior Football League. Kerry will be talking about the exciting Pathways for Girls & Women’s Football in Port Melbourne and the introduction of the Port Melbourne Football Club Div 1 team in 2018 and the planned Women’s VFL team bid for 2019.
Peta Searle is an Australian Rules football coach and was appointed Development Coach, at St Kilda FC, making her the first female coach in the AFL. Prior to this Peta was the Port Melbourne assistant coach to Gary Ayers and was an integral part to the defensive structures of Port’s 2012 VFL title defense before being named the head coach for the Western Bulldogs Women’s team, for the AFL’s first exhibition match.
Gary Ayres recently celebrated his 200th game coaching Port Melbourne and then once again steered Port Melbourne to win the 2017 VFL Premiership. Having recently re-signed as Senior Coach, Gary is now actively helping the Borough find their inaugural Women’s Coach and looking forward to the introduction of Women’s Football at the club.

Stacey Livingstone is a former Port Melbourne Colts Senior woman and was pick 70 in the inaugural AFLW Collingwood team (Collingwood’s 9th pick) and played in the very first Carlton vs Collingwood AFLW game.
Jess Cameron is also a former Port Melbourne Colts Senior woman and was pick 75 in the inaugural AFLW Collingwood team and played in the very first Carlton vs Collingwood AFLW game. Jess debuted in cricket at the age of 17, playing for Victora and has gone on to represent Australia in the Women’s World Cup, One Day Internationals, T20 International and the Women’s Ashes.
Emma Mackie also a former Port Melbourne Colts Senior woman, playing for Box Hill Hawks VFL this year, Emma has been drafted as pick 27 for the Western Bulldogs in the second AFLW season. Emma is an elite athlete having an international career as a cyclist.
