Welcome to Port Melbourne Football Club

Port Melbourne Football Club Is pleased to announce the appointment of Danny Ryan as Senior Assistant Coach for season 2024.

Danny joins the Port Melbourne coaching staff after five seasons as the senior coach at Frankston Football Club.

Speaking about the appointment, Port Melbourne Senior Coach Adam Skrobalak expressed his excitement, saying, “We are thrilled to have someone of Danny’s caliber and experience on board. His knowledge and passion for the game will be instrumental in driving our team towards greater success and continuous improvement of our list.”

Ryan, who will assume the responsibility of overseeing the forwards and team offense, expressed his enthusiasm to join the Port Melbourne Football Club. “I am wrapt to be onboard at Port, another proud standalone club with a rich VFL history,” said Ryan. “I am looking forward to supporting Adam as the Senior Assistant as we strive for greater success and continued improvement of the team.”

Having witnessed firsthand the impact of a strong football program, Ryan is determined to bring his expertise to the Port Melbourne Football Club. He emphasised the importance of building strong foundations for future success. “I have seen how a strong program with strong people involved can build strong foundations for future success,” Ryan explained. “At Frankston, we focused on player development, resulting in five players being recruited to the AFL. I will bring a ‘whole player’ approach to get the best out of our players, coaches, and staff to translate that growth into on-field success.”

With his extensive experience at high-level football, including the AFL, VFL, and U18s, Ryan is well-equipped to assist Adam Skrobalak in driving Port Melbourne Football Club towards greater success.

Drawing inspiration from the spirit displayed by the Port group in recent years, Ryan says he is excited about the ‘spirit’ that the Port group has shown over the last couple of years,” he commented. “They are a well-connected bunch who defend well and are on the cusp of becoming a successful group. I can’t wait to meet the players and staff and get to work!”

CEO Paul Malcolm said “We continue to look at ways to enhance our program and continue to strive for success. To be able to add Danny to the program is great for the club and shows that what we started 2 years ago is on the right track”

We welcome Danny and his family to the club
