CEO Update | August ’22

What a year it has been so far!

Our women’s program finished with 3 wins, not as many as we would have liked however we set the year to be one of building our list for the future. In what is a great reflection of our club and our football program we had 5 players drafted to AFLW. Sean, Yul and Paddy are now deep into planning and recruiting for 2023.

Our men’s program has 2 rounds to go. We have 6 wins and could have won a few more along the way. At times we have played some very exciting football and our win against Sandringham showed what the group is capable of doing. From a holistic view of our overall football program, the future looks very bright.

As with the women’s program, we are also continually reviewing our men’s program and what we need for 2023 and beyond.

Our last home game is round 21 Saturday 13th August against Frankston and we hope to see a big crowd come along to cheer the team on at home for the last time in 2022.

Overall, I am sure you would all agree we have now laid the foundation for the coming years and we have a lot to look forward to in 2023 onwards.

We continue to look at ways we can seek feedback, and on how we can improve and grow our great club. I want to say a big thank you to those who recently participated in our Marketing and Membership Survey. All feedback is beyond valuable as it will continue to help us move forward as a proud and great club. This survey was sent to a small cross-section of our members, to lapsed members, and to potential new members, designed to provide us with some key information.

We will look to run more surveys over the next 12 months to continue to gather feedback. All of which will assist us in how we best improve and grow our club off-field and identify new members and sponsors that we need to help cement our future.

Membership wise whilst not where we would like to be overall – we have ticked over the 1000 mark and we are doing a lot of work on how we can increase this in the future to get to the types of numbers we believe our club should have.

Sponsorship wise, whilst we had a couple of companies who due to Covid earlier in the year couldn’t commit in 2022 we have picked up a couple of new sponsors and we are not too far off our planned position – we are always looking for new partnerships so please let me know if you have any leads

Our lights are up and running and a fun fact – from 3 games our VFLW and VFL teams are undefeated this year. These lights will provide us with great opportunity to gain new revenue moving forward which is extremely important to assist us in keeping the club running at the level we want to be at.

Between now and the end of September we have 1 home game (August 13 V Frankston), VFL finals and AFLW games that we will be hosting. We look forward to seeing as many of you as possible at all the games and we will also round out the year with a couple of functions. Stay tuned for more info as the season comes to a close.

Keep an eye out on our socials and website for upcoming social events.

Until my next update Go Borough!
