50 for Bone Crushing Bromo

Star Borough midfielder Courteney Bromage has reached 50 VFLW games, hitting the milestone in Sunday afternoon’s Round 11 match against Hawthorn.

It was Bromage’s 24th game for the Borough following 26 games at Carlton.

Originally from Queensland, Bromage made the move down to Victoria to pursue her football career further after a very successful athletics career and junior footy career in the Sunshine State. Wearing the navy blue in 2018 and 2019, Bromage returned home to Queensland in 2020 and played for her local side, Yeronga South Brisbane Devils where she won the premiership, before making the move back to Melbourne, this time in the red and blue.

Bromage finished her 2021 season with an equal second result in the club’s best and fairest and has no doubt continued her form into 2022. Known for getting in and under all contests, she came second in the league’s tackle count last season and is currently sitting fourth, with an average of 8.3 tackles per match in 2022.

Senior assistant coach, Yul Mustapha says “Courteney encompasses what it is to be a Port Melbourne Footballer; blue collar with a fierce determination to compete every time she puts on our iconic jumper.”

Mustapha has been an integral part of Bromage’s football journey, often turning to the assistant coach for advice and support; “It’s been a privilege to be a part of her football journey. 50 games of bone crushing tackles.”
