An Update to Members from PMFC CEO Paul Malcolm – 25/5/2021

Hi everyone,

It is great to have footy back and with our VFLW now 9 and 3 and our VFL team 1 and 4 the next month is crucial for both teams for the women to finish the home and away strongly leading into finals and for the men to gain some players back from injury and to rebound from a narrow interstate loss to GWS.

Our women’s team continues to grow and build a great culture and with two games to go have cemented a spot in the finals which is a fantastic effort by the group in their inaugural season. Borough Support has been consistent to date and it would be great to see many more of our members at their games as they finish home and away and enter finals.

Our men’s team (apart from a poor first quarter against Aspley) have been thereabouts in all games so far. We have played 31 players in the first 5 Rounds and our Injury list has hovered around 12-14 players unavailable every week, since the start of Pre Season. Whilst we have not got the wins we were hoping for so far there is confidence that the boys can turn it around over the next month.

This week we have a double header on Saturday out at Box Hill with the women commencing at 11.00am and the men at 2.00pm. After a joint training session last night and team dinner we ae looking forward to two very strong performances.
Thursday the 3rd June we our men’s team will play the first night game at ETU stadium against Southport and whilst this will be live on Fox Sports we look forward to a large crowd coming along to support the Borough. What a great opportunity to watch our teams compete at ETU under lights and. Be a part of this history making game – Make sure your part of it – Keep an eye out for more details later this week

Off the field
We are extremely lucky that we continue to grow our strong relationships with many valued sponsors and with the introduction of the women’s team we have gained some new partners as well. Without the support of all of our sponsors, members and community partners we would not be able to continue to be a strong viable stand alone club and we thankyou all for your ongoing support.

Our Ground lighting program is well under way and we are on track for completion of the program later this year. Over the coming weeks we will start to provide more details about the program so keep an eye out for this information. The Change room program is running along side the lighting project and we will provide more details on this in the coming months.

The 1980/81 reunion took place last week and was a successful event. It was great to see so many past champions and friends at the event and we look forward to seeing them again later in the year when we will look to hold a welcome back to the Borough event which will be a celebration of the 1980-81 / 2011-2017 premierships and Gary’s 250th game as coach – more details to follow. We will also be holding the 2011 Premiership reunion when we play Williamstown at home in round 11.

To all of you who have come up and chatted to me be it at a VFL/VFLW game or at an event and introduced yourselves and also for those who have provided feedback I say Thankyou – I came into the role of ceo in 2019 we then had Xmas and then Covid hit so I didn’t get to meet you all in person until this year – although you all saw me in my video updates- I love the interaction and feedback as it all helps us make the club better for all.

Look forward to seeing you at a game or event again soon
